Painted Play: A Body Paint Boudoir Session

Body paint in a boudoir photoshoot is as fun as it looks. It’s a creative way to explore sensuality and self-expression without needing to be fully nude, and it creates incredibly beautiful bold, graphic images that are perfect for your wall. Here’s a recent body paint session we created in the studio to show you just how playful, expressive messy paint can be with an added bonus of meeting our new studio manager.

The Obvious Reason Why Body Paint Boudoir Is So Fun

Body paint lets you treat the body like a canvas, creating brushstrokes, and shapes that feel more like art than “posing.” For so many of our clients, it creates a layer of separation and playfulness that makes stepping in front of the camera feel less intimidating and more like play.

Unlike traditional lingerie sessions, body paint can highlight movement, curves, and personality without relying on revealing outfits. It’s a perfect option if you love the idea of boudoir but want something more quirky, editorial, or fashion-inspired instead of classic “bedroom” imagery. Choose the paint colours that inspire you and we can start planning from there.

You Don’t Have To Be Nude

One of the biggest myths about boudoir is that you have to be nude or nearly nude for it to “count.” In reality, boudoir is all about feeling sexy and expressing how you want to be seen, not how much skin you show.

If you’re looking to transform your life, body paint sessions are it. You can explore different sides of yourself while showing as little or as much skin as you want.

Our Playful Body Paint Concept

For this session, we wanted to create something graphic, high-contrast, and a little bit rock‑and‑roll to match our model’s personality. We wanted her bright red hair to be the central focus while we covered her in bold black-and-white body paint.

The white clothing became part of the canvas: streaks of black paint wrapping over her shoulders, splashes of white on her arms, and abstract shapes tracing down her legs. Against the black backdrop, her red hair and the monochrome paint created a striking, almost graphic-novel look—fun, edgy, and still very much “her.”

Meet Our New Studio Manager

This session was extra special because it wasn’t just any model—it was our new studio manager, Chrissy. We thought, what better way to introduce her than by doing exactly what we do best here: giving her an experience that is playful, empowering, and a little outside the box.

Chrissy is your resident hype woman behind the scenes. She keeps the studio running smoothly, makes sure every little detail is in place, and occasionally jumps in to help during shoots. She likes her coffee strong, her spaces organized, and believes a great playlist can fix almost anything. While you may not always see her, there’s a good chance she’s the reason everything around you is running seamlessly. We’re so lucky to have her be part of the team.

How Body Paint Changes The Experience

When you’re covered in paint, you stop worrying about “perfect” poses and start thinking about how the art moves with your body. Clients often find themselves more focused on having fun than on whether their tummy is flat or their arms are perfect, which is incredibly freeing.

It also encourages movement (arching, twisting, stretching) so the session becomes less about “holding a pose” and more about enjoying the moment. This means you’ll get more natural, expressive photos and a deeper sense of connection to your body.

Ideas For Creative Boudoir

If you’re curious about trying something creative but black and white body paint is not your thing, there are so many options be playful. Here are a few ideas:

- Gold or silver paint dripping on nude skin or bikini with vintage Bond Girl Make-up

- Splattered neon paint photographed under black light

- Pastel paint dripping over you while you eat a prop ice cream on a pink background

- Dripping red paint for a more gothic vibe

Each of these options lets you explore different sides of your personality while still getting something unique and artistic. Because everything is customized to you, we can adjust the level of “spice” from subtle to dramatic.

The goal is always the same: to help you see yourself in a new, empowering way while having the best time of your life.

If you were to do a body paint photoshoot, would you go bold and graphic like this shoot, or do you want to be the Bond Girl in the movie Goldfinger?
