Fetish Magazine Cover Shoot

When I first started photography 16 years ago, a lot of my models and clients were part of the fetish scene because boudoir photography was considered to be outrageous back then. That sounds crazy now, but it took many years for the idea of posing in your lingerie to be popular. Of course I loved the fetish scene because I love corsets, leather, high heels and any excuse to create interesting art. And when I start liking a subject, I start researching everything about it. I needed to know everything about vintage fetish illustrators, photographers, designers and the reasons why certain shapes are timeless. I can go into more detail but I think I’ll save it for another post.

So while I’m doing all my research, I meet the wonderful Kerosene Deluxe (who was living in Montreal at the time). She had been an international fetish and pin-up model for many years and is the world’s biggest sweat heart. When she told me that the infamous German fetish magazine wanted to have her as a cover model, I was absolutely thrilled to plan the shoot! I knew the perfect corset designer - Lovesick Corrective Apparel - and she created these incredible custom corsets for Kerosene. We wanted to exaggerate her hourglass shape to be as extreme John Willie’s illustrations. We were so successful creating the extreme shape that it was almost near impossible to put the corsets on. At one point, I actual had to straddle Kerosene on the floor to get the corsets to close… I so wish we had video footage of us laughing the entire time.

I am still so proud of this shoot 13 years later and I can’t wait to explore some more fetish concept photoshoots in the future. If ever you have any questions about how to do a shoot like this for you, please let me know. I just adore creating this kind of art.

xx Andrea
