The perfect revenge

revenge photoshoot

(noun)
re·venge/rəˈvenj/ pho·to shoot/ˈfōdō SHo͞ot/

The process of self exploration during a glamour or boudoir photoshoot after exiting a toxic relationship. The perfect re-entry onto social media that says “F*ck the past & the haters, I’m ready for an exciting new future – done my way.” It’s a coming out party for your bad-a** self.

The best revenge is living your best life

I love celebrating break-ups! It’s not because I’m heartless (I swear) but because I love showing my clients that they are amazing and that they don’t need to stay in the wrong relationship to be validated. Break-ups don’t always have to be with a lover, sometimes it’s with a toxic friendship or family member. Sometimes it’s a break-up with your past and you’re just ready to move onto bigger and better things.

A revenge photoshoot should not be confused with a revenge body. I’m all for being the best you but I’m not into the only value you have being based on a specific dress size. In my photoshoots, it’s all about celebrating what you look like now but also who you want to become in the future.

Do it your way

Every time I photograph & style a revenge photoshoot, it’s always with a different purpose. For some, it’s doing a Sex in City, Samantha style nude boudoir, for others it’s living their princess dreams in a custom ballgown I created for them.

For this beauty featured in this post, she wanted to create some glam photo art while being totally f*cking sexy. We also wanted to push the boundaries of what we could post on social media without being kicked off. She had just gone through a bad break-up with her partner of 10 years and even though the split was a long time coming, it was so hard to let go. I wanted this glamour & boudoir photoshoot to be a reminder of her strength, beauty and that no matter how she was hurt in the past, tomorrow will be a better day.

Life is more exciting when it’s a little messy

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” – Marilyn Monroe

Yes, we wish everything would work out exactly how we planned but when it doesn’t, it’s important to celebrate the change. Yes, I said celebrate. I much rather do a champagne cheers to celebrate the ending and a new beginning of an adventure, than pretend like nothing happened.

Sometimes these transitions can be a little messy and so instead of fighting for perfection, we leaned into the messiness of life & brought out the metallic body paint. Can I just say how amazing and brave this doll was to stand there naked while my fabulous make-up artist Yara poured all the paint on her? We all agreed these boudoir art photos were definitely worth the mess. She looked like a statuesque angel in these photos.

When something goes wrong in your life, just yell “Plot Twist!” & move on

No matter the pain you may be feeling during a rough period, just know that you’re not alone. We’ve all been there. I challenge you to not hide these feelings but put put them into a creative endeavor. You’re not a failure for not making things work but a butterfly exiting a cocoon that could no longer hide you.
