How to Prepare for a Boudoir Photoshoot

Preparing for your boudoir or glamour photoshoot is part of the experience. Think of it like getting ready for a sexy date with yourself. The goal is to feel confident, relaxed, and fully present so you can enjoy every moment and love the images we create.

This experience is about more than photos. It’s a chance to celebrate your femininity, express your personality, and step into your power. Feeling a mix of excitement and nerves is completely normal. My role is to guide you through everything so you never feel awkward, unsure, or alone in the process.

A little preparation goes a long way. Here’s how to set yourself up for the best possible experience.

Wardrobe

You’ll have full access to our studio wardrobe during your session, including glamour pieces, lingerie, jewelry, and heels in every size. Once you arrive, we’ll choose pieces together based on what feels right for you and the mood we want to create.

You’re also welcome to bring items from home. Anything that makes you feel beautiful, confident, or sexy is perfect — lingerie you love, a favourite dress, a cozy sweater, a partner’s shirt, or something with personal meaning. The best pieces are the ones that make you feel like yourself.

Skin & Hair

Moisturize your skin regularly in the days leading up to your shoot. Avoid trying new skincare products right before your session, as they can cause irritation.

Wash your hair the night before your session. Clean, dry hair is ideal for styling.

Important skin prep notes:
Please avoid strong or last-minute facials within two weeks of your photoshoot. If the skin isn’t fully healed, peeling or texture can affect how makeup sits, and I can’t guarantee the final result. Gentle maintenance is fine — aggressive treatments are not.

Also avoid taking diuretics right before your session. They can dehydrate the skin and affect how fresh and luminous you look on camera.

Nails & Grooming

Make sure your nails are clean and polished with a colour that complements your shoot. Popular choices my clients love are red, deep red, black, neutral tones, nude, or a classic French tip. I recommend avoiding anything too bold or flashy, as it can be distracting in photos and take attention away from you rather than enhancing the overall look.

Don’t forget brows and any grooming you normally do. Hair removal should be done one to two days before your shoot to avoid redness or sensitivity.

Hydration, Food & Rest

Drink plenty of water in the days before your shoot for glowing skin.

Eat a light, balanced meal beforehand and avoid very salty foods that can cause bloating.

Aim for a good night’s sleep so you feel rested and radiant.

What to Bring

Bring any personal accessories you love.

Please also bring a black bra, seamless black underwear, and seamless nude underwear.

Mindset

This experience is about you. There’s nothing to fix, perform, or prove. Show up as you are, trust the process, and allow yourself to enjoy it. The more present and relaxed you feel, the stronger and more natural the images will be.

I’ll guide you every step of the way. All you need to do is arrive and let yourself shine.

I can’t wait to photograph you!

xx Andrea
