Dark Fantasy Boudoir

Some women tell their stories with words. Kathy Haan writes dark romance filled with Fae, fantasy worlds, and the kind of haunting beauty that makes you lose track of time. She’s an author who doesn’t just create novels—she creates entire universes. And every time she visits my studio, it feels like stepping into one of her books.

Kathy and I first met when my studio was in Los Angeles, and now she flies in from her small town in the U.S. to shoot with me in Montreal. There’s something magical about photographing a woman who crafts otherworldly tales, because it feels only natural to create images that reflect the same dark, sensual beauty found in her work.

For her latest session, we leaned into dark fantasy boudoir photography with all the drama and elegance that her writing evokes:

  • Red velvet textures like the backdrop to a forbidden throne room.

  • Black lace lingerie and sultry gowns catching the glow of flickering candlelight.

  • Vampy glamour and powerful poses that feel like they belong to a heroine in one of her worlds.

The result? A collection of portraits that live somewhere between romance, fantasy, and desire—the same intoxicating blend that her readers fall in love with.

As a mom and a creator, Kathy spends so much of her life giving to others—her readers, her family, her community. These photoshoots are her moment to step into her own story, embracing her strength, sensuality, and the darker glamour that mirrors her writing.

If you’ve ever dreamed of a photoshoot that feels like stepping into your own fantasy world—whether that’s gothic romance, sultry boudoir, or something uniquely yours—my Montreal studio is ready. With candlelight, velvet, lace, and a touch of mystery, we’ll create images that look like they were pulled straight from the pages of a story.

Because the most powerful worlds aren’t only the ones we read about—they’re the ones we dare to create for ourselves.

Step inside the shadows—watch Kathy’s transformation from author to dark fantasy muse.
